February 14th is Valentine’s Day, a day of romance and love for all who wish to celebrate it. From heart-shaped boxes of chocolates to romantic evenings out, let’s not forget flowers and cards.
“Flowers are an expression… a tool for expressing one’s emotions. They’re good, they’re sad, and just because,” says Deb Moon, owner of Le Fleur Flower Shoppe.
“Roses speak the language of love; sometimes, it’s a single rose, and other times it is many dozen, depending on your budget or how much trouble you’re in.”
The only floral shop in Norton Shores, Moon credits part of Le Fleur Flower Shoppe’s success to “location, location, location.” Just moments away from U.S. 31 and I-96 interchange, it’s easily accessible for walk-in customers and flower deliveries to downtown Muskegon, Fruitport, North Muskegon, and Spring Lake.
Moon says, “One of the best decisions we made was relocating the shop to its current location at 4210 Grand Haven Rd, the City of Norton Shores.”
Deb’s advice to those wanting to send flowers this Valentine’s Day is, “Don’t wait until the last minute.”
Although long-stemmed roses are traditionally the go-to Valentine’s Day hit, they may not be your sweetheart’s favorite. “It’s important to know which flower speaks to their heart ahead of time. It might be sunflowers, tulips, and not roses; we can do red alstroemeria instead.”
Shopping locally is the best way to ensure you get the most bang for your buck. For example, if you order flowers through a third party, there are wire service fees and service charges in addition to delivery fees. That means the sixty-dollar price tag on a dozen roses purchased locally might cost you ninety dollars, including delivery fees.
If you want your flowers delivered, make sure to have your order in at least a week before Valentine’s Day. February 14th falls on a Tuesday this year, Le Fleur expects to see many delivery orders appearing on the office desks of that special someone in your life.
